Peculiar Patents – Spaghetti Fork

This is perhaps the coolest patent and the invention that I think can comfortably fall under “didn’t know I needed it”.

The device when held would contain a spiral mechanism which when depressed twists the fork and clicks.

For some reason I could not find the initial design first patented by one William J. Miscavich under Patent no. US 3,589,009.

In case anyone was ever confused as to how to operate the device, Miscavich gave specific instructions.

In the operation of the device, the handle is held between the fingers and thumb of one hand, and as the tines are inserted into a portion of spaghetti or the like the user depresses the plunger (here fig.4) when the desired amount of spaghetti has been wound upon the tines of the fork the plunger is released.

For those of you who are wondering, “Tines” are those pointy things on the fork, the more you know.
